Summer vacation is the best time to help your child explore his creative side. When your child is not out and staying inside or around the house, you can engage him in easy and fun DIY activities, to make this summer vacation a memorable one.
Hand & Foot Painting
Your little ones are going to love this activity. All you need is an empty spot in your home, few white sheets and painting colours of your kids choice. Ask your child to use his imagination to come up with something he wants to create. This will help him develop the habit of thinking and fueling his imagination. Like in the picture given below, a turkey is created using hands and foot prints. Your child can create animals, plants, and cartoons, the possibilities are just endless.

Balloon Craft I’ve never met a kid who isn’t in love with balloons. I’m sure, your kid is going to love balloon craft too. Pick a few colourful balloons, size could vary depending on the age of your child. Help him create human faces just like in the image, paint his favorite cartoon character or make a decorative piece of art out of the balloons. Your child is going to enjoy the entire DIY balloon craft activities as it helps him create something totally new.

Origami
Creating something out of papers with your little one gives you an opportunity to sit down and engage in creative activities. Origami, the art of folding paper into shapes, figures and decorative pieces of art, helps improve your child’s motor skills, spatial intelligence and awaken the creative side in him. If origami is new to your child, start with simple shapes and objects such as triangle, bench, desk and slowly the difficulty level can be increased. Origami is sure to help your child improve cognitive and community building skills, while enjoying doing it.

Rock Painting
Rock painting could be an amazing yet inexpensive recreational activity for your child this summer. Your child would need a couple of paintbrushes for acrylics of different sizes and few stones. If your child is very young, you could use a smooth pebble and ask him to paint with a light colour all over it. Then help him draw a face, an animal or butterfly on the pebble. He is sure to enjoy this creative activity and ask for more.
