Mantrapushpam is a Vedic mantra chanted at the end of every puja or Homa. The Priest makes us to chant this mantra holding Akshathai ( Holy rice) and flower in our hands. After chanting this mantra, he makes us to offer it to The GOD and do Namasakaram, surrendering ourselves to the Divinity.
The word Apah: is repeated in this Mantra. It means water.
Planet Moon, our mind is the flower of water, says this Mantra.
Agni, Vayu, Surya, Chandra, Nakshtra, Clouds, Monsoon, these are the sources of water. How each one is connected to Moon is explained in separate stanza.
Ya Evam veda: is repeated in every stanza, which means this is the declaration of Vedas. The one who is aware of this connection benefits a lot, says the Mantra.
The one who can see this also sees the raft is All supreme GOD, which can cross this water….
and ultimately becomes the raft (the power to cross his/her problems) himself/herself.
Astrologically also, Aapah: Is the water element helps the Astrologer to give ASTROLOGICAL counselling. It helps the Astrologer to suggest correct remedies.
Water element helps vis the Jataka via the astrologer, to rise his/her thoughts to higher level. At that level the Jataka finds Solutions to his/her problems by himself / herself.
That is why Pujas and Homas are suggested to raise the mind to healthy, clear and higher level. The level where the solutions are revealed automatically.
This is the declaration of Vedas.
