Open the man page of scanf() it says int scanf(const char *format, ...);so what does that mean ? That means first argument of scanf() is of type char*.And you have provided "%d" and "%d" expects argument nof int type.In short %d in scanf will scan the integer value from user and store into variable. ...more

There should be a munimin one main() function. It's where your c program execution starts. And int is the return type. When main() completes it should inform to __startup code about it's status whether success or failure, so at the end of main() you will find return 0.

The default value of static values is zero. There are two types of it namely initialized static and uninitialized static. Do some research where exactly they are stored in RAM.
