Is kickboxing the same as Muay Thai?

NO both are different sports Muay thai is a sport called art of 8 limbs which are used in combat fight e.g, hand(first) legs(shin) knees elbows. And kickboxing is usually having lunch and kicks which also includes knee kick depending on the games

What are the steps to become a professional kickboxer?

You should start learning with the basics, age doesn't matter at all being professional, I'd you're already done basic and started intermediate training then you should participate n some tournaments and reach to your limits
