Asthaanga Yoga also know as Patanjali yoga or Raj yoga is the best for beginners. One should always do yoga under the guidance of an expert yoga teacher/therapist.

It is not advisable to do asanas when you have chronic cold, however certain kriyas and pranayama are beneficial.

Yoga is not all about doing acrobatic asanas; it entails a lot more and includes - kriyas, asanas, pranayama, meditation and deep relaxation techniques. All these are important in equal proportions to get REAL benefits of yoga.

One is advised not to eat for about 3 hours before the yoga session because the last meal is still being digested for those hours - kriyas & asanas are best done on an empty stomach.
