You should breathe in from the mouth and breathe out from the nose or mouth.

I can only do the forward crawl half of a lap before gasping every stroke, what is the best way to build up some basic endurance?

Ensure that you breathe out when your face in the water. When you turn to breathe, you should only "breathe in" and not "breathe out and breathe in". Try to fix your body position and balance first by practicing "only glide and then kick" after you push off from the wall.

When your score on the GMATPrep mock tests is within +/- 40 points of your target score, you are ready to take the GMAT again.

Yes, the Strategy Guide on Sentence Correction by Manhattan GMAT is excellent. The GMAT Sentence Correction Grail from Aristotle Prep is also good.
