In few days I could find the difference in how I am listening to any music .I was able to appreciate all kind of music. I discovered the art of listening. "I am learning Hindustani music from Rupali maam from past 5 months. She is a wonderful teacher because of her way of teaching, of her in-depth knowledge of music. I have been to classes elsewhere when I was in college and every other teacher would just make to sing one swar malika, one bandish and few taans from a Raag. But here for one raag, we get so many swar malikas, so many bandishs and for each bandish taans are there and composed by her. So basically it's like I get complete knowledge of that raag which is more important rather than learning so many raags and not even perfect in at least one. She makes us sing popular songs(bhajans) based on raagas which gives us even more confidence and better understanding of that raag. She teaches us to bring emotions that the song demands which a good teacher only will teach. I am so grateful to her for that she has brought back singing in my life again and a creative aspect of it. She has the vast knowledge of music, at the same time she is so polite and humble. She puts all her efforts to improvise us day by day and polish our singing quality. She teaches adults and also for kids. I am sending my 5 yr old kid also to the class and wow within a few weeks I can see that he has developed a great interest in classical music which is not that easy I believe. I am happy that my son is more lucky than me that at this small age he has got the right teacher. In real senses, she is a GURU to me. I am blessed to get Rupali maam as my GURU. "
