For equilibrium the body should be in translational equilibrium (vector sum of forces on the body must be zero) and rotational equilibrium (the vector sum of torques on the body must be zero).

Static equilibrium is defined as a state where an object is not accelerating in any way. The two conditions for the equilibrium of a rigid body (such as a meter stick) are 1. the vector sum of forces on the body must be zero and 2. the vector sum of torques on the body must be zero.

Hello everyone, Thank you for reading my question. I am Btech Graduate fresher student 2016 passed out. I would like to do the mechanical courses especially more interested on NDT methods.
