You can state the colour of light either in terms of frequency or wavelength since they are related. It's traditional to specify it in terms of wavelength. Because for a long time, physicists found it very hard to measure the frequency of light, whereas wavelength was easily measurable.
One additional thing you might want to know is that when light undergoes refraction, its wavelength in the medium changes whereas frequency remains unchanged.
