Movement Groups: The groups which try to achieve a single objective within a limited time frame or a broad goal in the very long-term, are . known as Movement Groups.
Examples of Issue-specific Movement Groups:
People’s movement often describes many forms of collective action, like Narmada Bachao Andolan, Movement for Right to Information, Anti-liquor Movement in Andhra Pradesh by poor women, Environmental Movement, etc. Most of these movements are issue-specific movements.
Examples of Long-term Movement Groups:
The Nepalese movement for democracy arose with the specific objective of reversing the kings, order, i.e. to restore democracy by replacing monarchical power.
In April 2006, Girija Prasad Koirala became the Prime Minister of Nepal by suspending the power of the king.
Narmada Bachao Andolan started to stop the - construction of Sirdar Sarovar Dam on Narmada river, but later it gradually, questioned all sueh big dams and the model of development that required such dams.
