NOUN
A person, place, or thing.
Example:
Dog, work, music, town, London, teacher, John.
VERB
Action or a state of being. A verb is an action word.
Example:
Be, have, do, like, work, sing, can, must.
ADJECTIVE
A quality or a quantity of a noun.
Example:
Some, good, big, red, two, few, interesting.
ADVERB
Describes a verb, adjective, or another adverb.
Example:
Quickly, silently, well, badly, very, really.
PRONOUN
Stands in for a noun.
Example:
You, he, she, we, they, your.
PREPOSITION
Links a noun to another word.
Example:
To, at, after, on, before, around, over, of, in, for, with, throughout, from, beneath.
CONJUNCTION
Joins words, clauses, and sentences. Joins two sentences using the coordinator.
Example:
And, but, when, or, however, although, nevertheless, therefore, yet, so.
INTERJECTION
Short exclamation, sometimes inserted into a sentence.
Example:
oh, ouch, hi, well.
