Introduction:
Anything that occupies space and has mass is called matter. Matter can be divided into two types.
- Pure substance: It consists single types of particles which are identical and same characteristics.
- Mixtures: Mixture contains two or more different kind of particles or atoms. The particles show their individual characteristics.
Mixtures are of two types.
- Homogeneous mixtures: A mixture is said to be Homogeneous if all the particles in mixture is mixed properly and they cannot be separated by simple physical process.
- Heterogeneous mixtures: A mixture is said to be Heterogeneous if all the components of the mixture are not uniformly mixed and they can be separated easily.
