India's Mars Mission
Accomplishing a new milestone into space technology, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully launched India's first mission to Mars.
This is India's first inter-planetary expedition which aims to substantiate India's capability to reach the Red Planet. It is as well as an effort to discover the presence of methane an indicator of life in that planet.
This challenging Mission focuses on the Mars Orbiter's capacity to survive and execute Earth bound operations, to carry out navigation functions and space communication as well as to study the Martian atmosphere and its surface features.
Though the Mission has been dubbed as 'unnecessary' and 'superfluous' by the world media, the successful launch of India's Mars Orbiter Mission is beyond doubt a momentous and remarkable achievement in our country's space programme.
The Mars Orbiter Mission aims to take on a complete and comprehensive study of the physical features such as the internal structure, surface geology, climate and atmosphere of the Red Planet.
It has always been a matter of great speculation whether Mars has the capability to sustain life. The mission aims to expand human understanding of Mars and to probably divulge new facts and figures in relation to the possibility of life on this very important planet.
Further this mission will act as a morale booster for ISRO to come up with more of such technologies and cognitive ideas that will significantly contribute towards the advancement of India's space technology.
The Mars Orbiter Mission marks out a developing country's resolute endeavor to build its stature in aeronautics and space technology on the global arena.
If 'Mangalyan' successfully completes the job entrusted to it, ISRO will become the fourth space research organization after those of the US, Russia and Europe to undertake a successful Mars mission. This is a feat accomplished by only 21 of the 51 Mars missions as of yet.
It is certain that this Mars mission would encourage scientific culture into the country and many more aspiring youngsters would pursue space sciences as a career.
Watching 'Mangalyan' thunder its way into the sky was a very proud moment for every Indian. It surely is a feat to be cherished as India now is in the prestigious run to unravel more of the Red Planet's arcana.
