Measurement units are required to quantify substances for performing an experiment or completing a situation. For eg. in marathon race, participants take the race as per their capacity which may be 100m, 500m or 1000m (metre as in the unit of measurement). Similarly, when performing chemistry practical experiments, measurement of each chemical is critical for the success of the experiment (like mol, ml). In practical life as well, measurement is of utmost importance. Another example, if a new recipe that you wud have just learnt mentions half teaspoon of salt an an ingredient, and you add 1 tablespoon of it, the dish may turn out real freak. read less
