There are eight parts of speech:

Noun: Naming words. Eg: Rosy, cow, book, etc.

Pronoun: Used instead of nouns. Eg: It, he, she, they, etc.

Verb: Words that express actions or facts. Eg: Come, eat, drink, etc.

Adverb: Words that qualify verbs and adjectives. Eg: sadly, lazily, boldly, etc.

Adjectives: Words that qualify nouns or pronouns. Eg: Tall, lazy, brave, etc.

Prepositions: Position of noun. Eg: In, below, across.

Interjections: Words expressing sudden feeling of the mind. Eg: hurrah!, wow, etc.

Conjunctions: Words that join words and sentences. Eg: And, or, as well as, etc.
