Your body language is a direct reflection of your state of mind. Surprisingly, you can alter the state of your mind using your body language.
- Posture - Have an erect body posture. Do not slouch. Face the audience and not your slides.
- Eye Contact - Look at your audience in the eye with a smile and seek energy from their smile and enthusiasm as well. (People who sit in the front rows are normally charged up and receptive)
- Gestures - Use open palm gestures, they signal acceptance and openness.
- Expressions - Take deep breaths, be yourself and focus on how your topic can add value to your audience. Emotions and expressions are clearly visible.
- Proxemics (Use of space) - Do not attempt to walk around wildly in order to impress others. This tends to irritate the audience and disturbs their concentration. Do not stand in the same spot for a long time either.
