Banaras gharana is the less known gharana of Kathak. It is also known as "Janki Prasad " Gharana. Janki Prasad ji was brother of famous tabla maestro Pt. Ram Sahaye ji. Dancers of this gharana was also from Rajasthan. According to the knowledgeable people of kathak, in Rajasthan kathak was known for Shyamal Das gharana which was later divided into two as Jaipur gharana and Banaras gharana.
