Concrete floors are always prepared in sections and the concrete pieces are kept at certain distance apart from each other. The reason is that when the concrete gets dry, its molecules expands and needs some space for adjustment. So, if there is not enough space between the concrete sections then its molecules could not find enough space to expand and as a result, concrete floors may get cracked.
