You can use the standard chord progression in the key of G or A( whatever suits your range)
The chords will be in a progression of I-vi-IV-V.
In the key of G it translates to G-Em-c-d
And in the key of A it is A-F#m-D-E

Learning has no age! And it's best to start as early as possible! Kids are a blank canvas at an early age, and you can expose them to good values and direct them in a productive direction at that point!
All I want to say is, it's perfectly fine, infact encouraged to teach the child music at an early age.
