First of all you need to be strong with the basics in Operating Systems and Networking.
just for your ease, Start with little things.
I suggest you to begin with Windows 7. Learn the Architecture of OS, Batch Programming, Firewalls and working, try to work more with commands. Once you get complete idea about operating system, you can go for Networking - Types of Networking , Protocols, IP Address System. then you can use Virtual Machines to Practise attacks.
Once you get expertise , you can try the same online. And when you are done with windows, Try the same with Linux.
