Ashish Mishra

I am a devoted musician with 25 years of experience in Indian
classical vocal music, bhajan, gazal, and tabla. My passion for music is deeply rooted in
my heritage, as I belong to the 7th generation of a musical family, carrying the legacy of
a distinguished gharana.
My academic journey includes a Masters in Tabla from Thiraghar University and a
B.Com Honors degree. My musical journey began in Russia, where I completed a 3-year
degree, and since 1999, I have been imparting the art of tabla. In 2012, inspired by my
family's legacy and driven by my passion for vocal music, I embarked on a teaching
journey in Indian classical vocal music.
Throughout my career, I have garnered recognition for my musical contributions. I have
been honoured with the BRAHMDYANAM Award for tabla, achieved the PRAYAG
SANGEETH GOLD MEDALIST title, and received the ICCR Tabla Teacher Award.
Additionally, I am a recipient of the B High All India Radio Award.
My teaching philosophy encompasses online and offline modes, allowing me to
reach students globally. Each 45 to 50-minute session integrates
practical and theoretical elements, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience. Live
sessions play a crucial role in my teaching methodology, providing students with real--
time guidance, opportunities for interaction, and immediate feedback.
I provide comprehensive lesson notes encompassing practical and theoretical aspects to complement the live sessions. These notes serve as valuable
references for students, aiding in their practice and understanding of the intricate
elements of Indian classical vocal music and tabla.
