I am working as a technical lead in one of the leading IT company in India. I have a total 10 years of experience in IT field. I am giving Power BI/Informatica training from last one year. I am also certified in Power BI (DA- 100).

What I believe is to learn something you need to start with the basics and keep building up your knowledge on that. So I prefer covering up the data warehousing concepts, data modelling concepts (if in case you aren't familiar with that) and then start with the detailed end to end functionally of the tool you wish to learn. I also like to cover the deployment mechanisms as well as other architecture level concepts as that's what you learn while working in a real project.

It all drills down to what field you are excited about. There are two ways to go about it. One is learning a language like a python, java, .Net and get into code development. It all drills down to what field you are excited about. There are two ways to go about it. One is learning a language like a python, java, .Net and get into code development. Another way is to learn a tool and the concepts around it. I personally feel it's an easier approach for non it people. That doesn't mean you don't have to work hard. For example, learning BI tools, you'll need to learn SQL, Datawahouse concepts, data modelling and then finally the tool. Same goes with ETL tools.

So my suggestion here goes with the concepts and SQL first, then approach any BI tool like Tableau or Power BI. All the best and happy learning.
