start practicing java first before jumping onto hadoop/bigdata. core java knowledge would be helpful and also linux basic commands will help in running the commands quicker on hdfs.
Then move onto learning hadoop. again there are lot of components in hadoop eco system. pick the small components rather than learning everything in hadoop.
