I have completed an MBA in marketing and operation and have done SAP MM consultant training because I could not pay costly certification fees. I have 5 yrs of working experience in the SAP MM domain. But I am not getting a job opportunity because it is difficult for sap fresher; I am struggling for a long time of 4 yrs for a job opening. Please guide or suggest another best course with a fresher job opportunity to start my career again.
Hello Priya,
I will suggest you focus on a single path instead of wandering here and there.
As I see you have done an MBA, you should focus on MBA and learn MBA-related skills. Why I am saying that because after doing an MBA, you are more comfortable doing task related to your knowledge and courses; think about the scenario where you are competing with the people who have done Computer specific courses (B. Tech/BCA/M.Tech etc.). I am not saying that you can't do better in this area, but the time and effort you put into this if you put that same in the specification you have studied and have a certificate for can do much better there.
Still, if you like Computer Science and take that as your career, then I will suggest taking a particular technology/topic which excites you, and you like that topic and be a master of that. Along with that, you must have knowledge of Basic Computer Science which will be expected in the interview and also that will help you in further career growth.
In my opinion, at this age, doing any certification and paying for that is a waste of money; there are many free resources available online that you can benefit from.
read lessDon't lose hope. Continue with what you have learnt already, SAP MM. Think about SAP HANA, and this is doing great in the cloud world. Try learning SAP HANA and work for some company on some free basis for one year, and that gets you an opportunity to get real-time exposure towards your area. You can plan to switch for a new job once you gain a year-long experience, and you can showcase that one year experience as 5 years and get the best package.
read lessHello Priya, now that you already have invested a reasonable amount of time in SAP MM and worked on it for few years. It is not advisable to switch the career path unless you lose interest in that field and explore a new area.
But I understand from your message that you are interested but cannot afford certification. SAP MM is the most refined module in SAP ERP, especially in Manufacturing & Trading Industries, as it takes care of Procurement & Inventory management at its best.
You can also proceed if you have domain experiences; it's advised to get certified to tackle the job calls. You have to invest in the area. You can grow rather than invest in learning something new because most of the MNC's nowadays sets SAP Global Certification as a necessity & offer a good package by considering domain experiences. I hope you already must be a Trainee Consultant/SAP MM Associate; later, it would require many upgrades to SAP MM/WM or EWM to sustain in the field.
I wish you all the very best!!
