dear ashwin , No need to learn all the whole periodic table,but if you can then it is the best way.There are around 118 known elements but you don't have to learn all. If you can learn till 109 and zerox it in your brain then even in future you won't have doubt. when we are young our brains fuction well so if you learn till 109 now in class 9 you'll won't face problems. For a class 9 student ,i say to learn the important elements mentioned in your books and that may be enough.For higher studies you need to learn till 109 elements. After109 elements there is a process to learn the elements and its mention in class 11ncert chemistry textbook.After 118 there will be many new elements discovered in future and there's a process to write the name which you will learn in your higher education. thank you
