after qualifying UGC NET exam,you are eligible to be ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in direct recruitments in colleges, THOUGH in some universities first fill form for assitsant professor and appear in written exam. In present time to pursue PHD also, you have to qualify UGC NET exam. and ya if you qualify with higher percentage so you would be qualify as JRF and you can get stipend of Rs.35000-40000/ monthly.

basically the success rate of UGC NET exam depends on subject you have chosen for master's degree and depends upon the candidate's command on the subject.
when student has completed preparation for his particular subject, he has to focus on first paper too with same efforts.
