It would help if you gave him an incentive for studying, for example, an hour, like after studying an hour he can play or get his favourite candy. Do not pressurise or threaten him to learn; instead, try to make the process of studying fun, like explaining in a light-hearted fashion and a fun way to enjoy and retain. After some time, you can remind him of the funny fact and that way he can revise things you taught him too. I hope this helped.
