Music transcends age. Hence, music can be learnt from the time a child is in the womb. Your son is probably 4.5yrs late in that manner. However, for formal music education, it is preferable that the child is possibly in 1st std or 2 std to be able to grapple with the techniques in music. If your child is very interested, buy him a small keyboard (not a toy) and allow some YouTube lessons to understand learning the instrument. This is my opinion.
