Overview

Dance is a soulful art form and meditative. Bharatanatyam is a form which encompasses mind, body and emotions. It is versatile and hence makes a person agile. It has depth and hence makes a person to slow down and reflect. It stretches one's potential as it strives for perfection. However the experience is unique as it is process oriented. I was initiated in to dance at the age of 10. I underwent training in Bharatanatyam under Guru Smt. Premalatha from Coimbatore. I started learning dance in Bengaluru again from 2004 under Guru Smt. Supriya Komandur, Artistic Director of Amrthavarshini, the academy for arts. I have also learnt Carnatic music from Smt Kumudha Srinivasan.
I performed in several performing arts forums, festivals, temples, conferences and spiritual gatherings. I have completed her senior grade in dance conducted by Government of Karnataka.
Being an OD practitioner, facilitation is a mindful practice and it has helped me in all ways including dance. I also conducted a one day learning session on Unleashing emotions in Mumbai and 1 hour activity in South Africa.

Dance Preferred dance style:Bharatanatyam Dance Classes

"Although I had learned Bharatanatyam for a year during my school days, I started learning from dance teacher Laksmi Devi V when I was working in Mumbai. She taught the adavus, theory including shlokas with great clarity. She corrected my postures with patience which I was not aware were wrong, when I was learning previously. She also taught small dance pieces along with regular adavus which made the class enjoyable. The one-to-one sessions with her were insightful and were something I used to look forward to during weekends. "
