Ofcourse it helps. Asanas improve the strength and flexibility of supporting muscles . It helps to relief the back pain and issues. Specific asanas like vajrasana, pavanamuktasan, sasankasan etc and meditation helps to improve gur health.

Vajrasana for better digestion , sethubandasana for strengthening lower back, tadasan for better balancing and fractional effect of spine
