It is the first of India's traditional dances to be refashioned by a theatre artist and to be exhibited widely both at home and abroad. Every guru has their own style of sharing their knowledge of an art form.
The Bharatanatyam performance consists of six portions: Alarippu, Jathiswaram, Shabdam, Varnam, Padam and Tillana.

So, for young students, like I was then, here is a basic introduction to Bharatanatyam. There are thirteen groups of Adavus containing 36 to 52.
I am a Bharatnatyam teacher with 20+ years of experience, I have mastered other dance styles too. Armed with a Bachelor in Dance from Rabindra Bharati University, I believe dance as an expression can communicate more than what words can say.
