Diffraction grating ( evenly spaced very very small slits) Experiment is very very similar to Young Double Slit Experiment. Young Double Slit has only Double Slit whereas Diffraction has many such slits. The slits in a Diffraction Grating experiment are very closely spaced to each other when compared to YDSE's Double Slit's Experiment. i.e. in YDSE, the spacing between slits is larger than the Diffraction slits.
When white light (made of multiple Wavelengths( passes through the many evenly spaced Slits called Grating it produces a fascinating pattern on the screen. The Pattern is an Interference Pattern. But this pattern is a very sharp pattern when compared to the ---> Pattern created in Young Double Slit Experiment. Also, one should understand this pattern in detail---The Central maxima are white, whereas the other Maximas like Rainbow coloured.
A diffraction grating has tremendous applicability in Spectroscopy that is concerned with Dispersion of Light.
