Read a lot, there are some very good free journalism offered on the internet. You will not only learn new words within a certain context, you will also become aware of various global issues. One learns a new word better when it is personalised. Choose topics of interest to learn new vocabulary. Learn new collocations (a combination of words in the English Language).
