I'm a guitar tutor, producer, orchestrator and a session musician. Been playing for 9 years and have taught and mentored many students, local and foreign.
Gotten many students out of ruts, be it in technical skill, execution, theory, or just a mental barrier in dealing with self-doubt, lack of motivation, or lack of direction. and focus. I have the process down because I have lived it.
I use different ways of teaching a similar topic to different kinds of students, based on their personality type and perceived IQ. Students high in spatial IQ have an easier time grasping theories (e.g., circle of fifths) than students
low in spatial IQ. Students high in trait openness also have an easier time learning theory and abstract concepts(e.g polyrythyms and polymeters).
Furthermore, the curriculum for all students is similar but altered in a way that is hyper-focused on the goal the students want to achieve. So I always get consistent and reliable results.
