Lesson 01: Self - Introduction (Part I)
You will learn how to introduce yourself:
Step 1:
- When you introduce yourself you say: Nice to meet you. (Nice to meet you.)
- You can reply by saying: Nice to meet you, too. (Nice to meet you, too)
- Teacher: Nice to meet you!
- You: Nice to meet you, too!
- When you want to sound a bit more personal you can say: Glad to meet you! (Glad
to meet you!)
Step 2:
- When you say your name: My name is _______.
- When you ask about someone’s name you say: What is your name?
- Teacher: My name is __________. What is your name?
- You: My name is ___________. What is your name?
- Teacher: My name is __________.
- If you want to ask about someone’s name in a more polite way you can say: Can I
have your name?
Step 3:
- When you say your age: I am ________ years old.
- When you ask about someone’s age you say: How old are you? (How old are you?)
- Teacher: I am ?????????? years old. How old are you?
- You: I am ?????????? years old.
- Answer your teacher?’s questions with these sentences:
- I am ____________ years old. (I am 23 years old.)
- I am ____________ years old. (I am 52 years old.)
- I am ___________ years old. (I am 12 years old.)
Step 4:
- When you say where you live: I live in _________.
- When you ask about someone’s place of residence: Where do you live now?
- Teacher: I live in _____________. Where do you live now?
- You: I live in ____________.
- Answer your teacher?’s questions with these sentences:
- I live in ___________. (I live in Rome.)
- I live in ___________. (I live in Moscow.)
- I live in ____________. (I live in Barcelona.)
- When you want to give more information about your place of residence, you can use province/region (province/region). For example: I live in Barcelona, in the Region of Catalonia.
Step 5:
- When you talk about your siblings you say: I have __________.
- When you don’t have any siblings you say: I am an only child.
- When you ask about someone’s siblings you say: Do you have any brothers or
sisters? - Teacher: I have ____________. Do you have any brothers or sisters?
- You: I have _______________.
- Answer your teacher’s questions with these sentences.
- I have ___________. (I have two younger brothers)
- I have ___________. (I have an older sister.)
- I have ___________. (I have an older brother and three younger sisters)
- When you want to talk about other members of the family, you can use the word cousin.
