The English language has a total of twelve tenses. Namely:
Simple present
Present continuous
Present perfect
Present perfect continuous
Simple past
Past continuous
Past perfect
Past perfect continuous
Simple future
Future continuous
Future perfect continuous
Simple present tense is used to denote something that is occurring right now.
Also, it is used to represent something that happens regularly.i.e. Routines
For example:
The sun rises in the east.
I write.
you write.
we write.
they write.
he/she/it writes.
Note-"s” should be added with verb for he/she/it forms
Simple past tense is a verb tense that is used to talk about things that happened or existed before now.
Example:
I wrote
he wrote
she ate
it ran
they won
we won
Note- format: subject+verb3
simple future tense- will indicate something that will occur in future
Examples-
I will do
he will eat
they will study
Note- general format : Subject+will+verb1
Present continuous tense-
This tense is especially used to express something that is hapening right now and it is also continuing.
