Before answering the question let’s ponder over present situation of water .
- If the population of the world continues to grow at the current rate, by the end of the century the world will have over 10 billion people (There are over 7 billion people today). Feeding this many people will require more food to be grown in the next 75 years than all the food ever produced in human history. This food will require lots of water and more efficient methods of irrigation.
2. Many parts of India are already water-stressed, with per capita availability significantly less than the national average .
3.Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) says the country’s farm sector alone accounts for 83 per cent of all water use.
4. State governments, instead of focusing on economic use of water in agriculture, have been subsidising electricity for pumping irrigation water .
5. IARI says in surface irrigation, water losses can be largely avoided by promoting the use of drip and sprinkler irrigation .
6. Highly water-intensive crops, dependent on rain water and flood irrigation, are also being brought under the scope of drip irrigation .
So against the backdrop of this situation , micro irrigation makes sense and we are forced to move to a better system of farming where we use water judiciously . And Jain Irrigation System is just doing that .
JISL has considerable pioneering experience in executing large scale integrated micro irrigation projects in the country and abroad. They have already executed projects such as Balh Valley Medium Irrigation Project in Himachal Pradesh (6250 Acres), Shiggaon Integrated Sprinkler Irrigation Project-Karnataka (25,000 Acres), Indira Gandhi Nahar Pariyojana-Rajasthan (37,500 Acres), Purna Medium Irrigation Project-Maharashtra (25,000 Acres), to name a few. The company has substantial resources and unmatched expertise in the development of such projects in the country. This success has been repeated in countries outside India as well (particularly Africa), where JISL has done excellent work.
So , I hope you take better decision whether to enter into partnership with this company or not. One more thing I want to add now is , I never think like buying any share . I see it a passive partnership business where I’d be putting money and sit silently till it blooms so when you start thinking like that , naturally you will search more about the company. When I read about its founder Late Mr Bhanwar Lalji Jain , I was amazed to see his passion to create the best , in its 30 + years of journey company suffered setbacks 4 times and every time it came back stronger . So it tells a lot about the dedication of the promoter . Hope it helps. Cheers .
