Greetings!
Your Board Papers are around the corner, and as usual, you've given the least time to your subject ENGLISH. But you do not have to take the stress. Here are some pointers for you on 'How To Attempt Your English Paper'. I am sure your teachers have given you lots of practice, and you are aware that the paper is divided into three sections A, B, and C. Now this is what you have to do:
1. Calmly accept the paper, write your Roll Number on it.
2. Go through the Instructions carefully.
3. Attempt the Question Paper in the order of the parts given, so start with part A.
4. Read the Questions, of Question 1. of Part A.
5. Now read the passage. You need to do this to save time, as you will be able to locate answers faster, knowing what is being asked. Keep underlining the answers as you read the passage.
6. Now attempt the questions of passage 1.
7. Moving on to passage 2. of Part A, read the passage and underline the important parts. It will help you in Note-Making.
8. Do not unnecessarily use abbreviations for words not required. But kindly explain your abbreviations neatly after the Note-Making.
9. In part 2 of the passage expand your note-making into a summary. Be brief and precise.
10. Select your heading based on the described content.
11. Now move to Part B, i.e. The Advanced Writing Skills
12. Go through all the questions and attempt the problem that you know the answer to best.
13. Always first write-in rough the points to be written and then expand them.
14. Be careful with your grammar.
15. Remember always to divide your letter in(1. sender’s address, 2. date, 3. receiver’s address, 4. subject
heading,5. salutation, 6. complimentary close.) But remember, content is the most important. You will not get marks, only for the format without the content.
16. The format of the Notice will be (NOTICE / TITLE, DATE, and WRITER’S NAME WITH DESIGNATION).
17. Remember to write as per the formats but remember CONTENT is the king, always divide your content in Introductory, Main & Conclusion paragraphs.
18. Choose the question that you can answer best and start with it. Do not forget to put the question number
19. Now coming to the final part of the question paper Part C. This should be easy for you to answer as this is from the text that you have read.
20, Start with short answers, as the possibility of getting full marks on giving the correct answer is here. Be brief and to the point. Do not waste your time on writing descriptions where not required.
21. Be careful with your Grammar and Spellings, especially in long answers.
22. Always ensure that you finish your paper 15 minutes before time, so that you may revise your answers.
23. Always try not to hand in your paper without revision and this goes for all your subjects.
