I can write English much more than I speak. How can I develop my speaking skill?
Hi Honja, 3 basic things you need to work on:
1. Understand that we think in our mother tongue and (literally) translate it into english, that's where our sentence formation and hence english goes for a toss. This is where many of us (Indians) struggle as we are from diverse cultures (mother tongues) and try to speak non-native language i.e. English.
2. Reading is the eternal key. With my own learning experience, i'll suggest reading self-help books. Reason being it'll not only help you through its content, you'll improvise on your vocabulary words positively. Rather than newspaper or TV news, they have too much of negative talk, it affects us either ways: english vocab and mindset.
3. Take speaking skills as Public Speaking. With my experience not many are suportive (their own priorities) in terms of conversating in english. Practically speaking, we need to improve and not them, so we eventually need people around us who will talk in english with us all the time. If you've bunch of friends who can help you - Amazing, still you'll need to talk to more people to expand your vocabulary. Hence Public Speaking is one of the best option. From this answer i can suggest you Toastmasters, google it for a club near your residence. Slowly and steadily your sentence formation will improve, vocabulary will improve and most definitely with Public Speaking your confidence levels too.
All the Best.

read lessFirst of all most important thing is you have to be confident about your speaking. never ever shy or fear for speaking. even though it is wrong still speak because "Practise Makes You Perfect" and for improving you speaking skills talk in engish on daily basis with your friends, parents, relatives. Read newspaper, make your own vocabulary. but important is you have to do it daily atleast for 1 hr. Good Luck
read lessYou said you can write English so I'm assuming that your grammar is fine. In order to have a good spoken english there are few things you need to remember like pronunciation, vocabulary (also included while writing), etc.
So if you want to have a good command over the language some might suggest you to go to the tutions but still I believe in self study and why depend on someone else when you can help yourself. There a book available in the market 'WORD POWER MADE EASY ' I would suggest you that you buy that book and start reading it it includes your etymology, exercises for pronunciation and also for vocabulary.
I also haven't completed that book but after reading first 3-4 pages of that book you'll get an idea about the effectiveness of that book.
THE BOOK IS ALSO VERY COST EFFECTIVE.
You can save your money.

read lessRight from the time the urge to speak well arises, you actually become a traveller in the high traffic roads of public speaking. But it's not child's play!
High precision needed. With good intellect. Speaking well may get you satisfaction, but spoil your relations and chances. YOU NEED A GOOD GUIDE.
