Swara is a Sanskrit word that is called as notes in the successive steps of the Octave. Musical notes in Indian music called Swara.
In music 12 sound frequencies are recognized as musical notes or in Indian music it is called as Swaras. The group of Swaras are called as Sargam.
Essentially out of these 12 swaras 7 are considered to be the main swaras. The first Swara or note is Sa and it also comes in the end, becoming the eighth swara in order to give a closure to the Sargam. The eighth note is denoted by a (.) on the top of the Swara. It is an important note of king note because all other notes are placed depending on the position of Sa.
