How was the Zamindari system of land settlement responsible for the stagnation of Indian agriculture?

The zamindari system of land settlement was responsible for the stagnation of Indian agriculture because of the below mentioned reasons
(i) The zamindars were recognised as permanent owners of the soil.
(ii) The zamindars were to pay a fixed sum to the government as land revenue.
(iii) The zamindars were absolutely free to extract as much from the tillers of the soil as they could.

During Zamindari system the land was owned by d Zamindars and the acutual farming activity was done by the farmers on tenancy basis. Since the farmers did not own the land they were not able to introduce new better  techniques of farming.  They did not have the decision making power for the betterment of farming techniques nor they had the financial security. Thus they were using there minimum potential in d farming activity due to lack of motivation which led to slow growth of indian agriculture

a) It leds to unlimited exploitation of the tillers of the soil by the Zamindars.

b) Rates of land revenue  were frequently raised by the Zamindars.

c) Inability of the tillers to pay high rates led to their evication.

d)tillers were reduced to landless labrourers.

 e) As landless labourers the tillers merely got subsistance wage.

Backwardness of the tollers led to the backwardness of agriculture. Their perpetual backwardness led to stagnation of agriculture.
