Common Admission Test (CAT) is a management aptitude test conducted by the IIMs primarily to evaluate and shortlist candidates for the post graduate programme. It is a computer-based exam and a candidate has to register and apply to take this exam. It is conducted once in a year for admission into various Masters Degree Programmes (including MBA, PGDM etc.) in some of the most reputed colleges of India including IIMs, IITs etc. With 1 more IIM added to the list in 2016, there are 20 IIMs in the country providing admission to MBA aspirants.
The candidate must hold a BachelorĂ¢??s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons With Disability (PwD) categories]
Candidates appearing for the final year of BachelorĂ¢??s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply
The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution
