Okay, since you are a class 10 student, I would like to put it in this way.
The covalent bond is formed only by tetravalent elements(i.e. elements with 4 electrons in the outermost shell). Covalent bond forms very hard compounds which require a lot of energy to break them, and therefore, they have high melting and boiling points. Since this bond is very strong, it can be used in a wide variety of applications. For example, diamond, a carbon compound, is so strong that it can be used to cut tools and graphite, which is another form of carbon that can be used in a wide variety of electronic components because of its ability to conduct electricity.
