1) 10 yrs ago, P was half of Q age. If the ratio of their present age 3:4. What will be total of their present age?
Solution:
past... P:q 1:2
10years after
the present age of p:q 3:4
1 : 2
3 : 4 ( difference of 1&3 and 2&4 is 2)
2 => 10
(3+4=7) 7 => x
X= (7×10) ÷2
= 35 yrs
P+q= 35 years

For e.g. 35
The answer come in two parts:
LHS= the digit before 5 (i.e. 3 ) is multiplied by its next consecutive digit 4,
i.e. 3x4=12
RHS= as the number ends in 5, so
5 x 2=25
35 x 2= 1225.
Again lets say,
75 x 2= 7x8/5 x 2 = 5625

Suppose the Cost Price of a book is 15. Let it be sold at 20% profit. What is the selling price?
Answer:
S.P. = C.P. + Profit:
S.P. = 15 + (20/100) × 15 = 15 (1 + 20/100) = 15 × (120/100)
A 20% profit (increase) on 15 yields the product 15 × (120/100).
Writing this product enables speed in calculation.
Simplifying this product is easier compared to finding the amount of profit separately first and next adding it to the cost price.
