"Smt. Gouri Kar is an Indian vocal virtuoso, specialised in Hindustani Classical Music.
She attained pure classical taaleem from Padma Bhusan Pandit Sri Ajoy Chakraborty. She is also one of the oldest disciple of Guru Kanaidas Baigari under whom she has acquired her inital taaleem. Guru Kanaidas ji was also the 1st Guru of Pt Ajoy Chakraborty Ji.
Along with Khayal genre, she also renders semi classical forms such as Thumri, Dadra, Shyama Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti...
She teaches different forms of Indian Classical music and emphasises on understanding Raags, Taals and builds a deep understanding of Shruti and Swaras."
She has been researching in Hindustani Classical & Thumri for almost 59 years.
